Awesome Letters: awaiting demolition for the Subway to the Sea

Tennessee Ave. @ Exposition Blvd - what once was Lynntone tool & Die company: a fabulous metal fabrication shop where I rented a corner of space as a studio, is awaiting demolition as LA expands its Purple Line, dubbed "Subway to the Sea."

Within the past two weeks, as the building sighs through its last months of existence, the facade has been discovered by several artists who would hate to see a blank canvas go to waste-and its the best thing that could happen here, really, before it, and all the other businesses along the north side of Exposition blvd. get bulldozed into dirt and dust.  The land along this street is still owned by the city --ironically, from back when there used to be an operating train running into Santa Monica, through Bergamot Station.  There is actually an old level crossing still up at Barrington Ave. & Exposition Blvd. - but you have to be looking out for it, to notice it.

Enjoy the pics - and if you happen to be in west LA near the Bundy/Pico corridor, take a little trip out to a soon-to-be forgotten land, and peep the public art exhibit, which includes: SPURN, RARE, Lousy, Regis, gash, trixter, skego, Kreus, Gushe, and more.
